This program searches out the roots of the Puritans and the Pilgrims and paints an accurate picture of the historical events that brought these religious exiles to America. Students learn how Protestants came into being, how Puritanism developed, and how religious persecution in England drove the Pilgrims and Puritans from their homeland. The program follows their 13-year journey from villages in northern England to Cape Cod. It details the Mayflower Compact, the first Thanksgiving, and life at the Plymouth Colony. This program was photographed at the actual historic sites in Europe and at "Plimouth Plantation," a living history museum of 17th century Plymouth.
